At Casuarina Thrift & Consignment, we work hard to maintain a platform which promotes sustainability, while being secure, safe and fun. Please see below our guidelines and work with us to maintain what we built:

Fashion and Lifestyle
Casuarina Thrift is a place for fashion and lifestyle products. Before listing, inspect each item to ensure that they are in good condition to be sold. Products that can be listed are as follows but not limited to clothing, accessories, jewellery, beauty products/perfumes/makeup (must be in original packing with unbroken seal), select house items (dishware sets, small kitchen appliances, small home decor), books and shoes.

Expression & Creativity
Creating a listing is quick, easy and free! We encourage you to go the extra mile to showcase your style and get creative with your cover shot. We find that styling (whether on yourself or as a flat lay) or modelling your item helps the item sell much more quickly. Use a clean background to shoot your photos and make sure the item is clearly represented in the main photo. Try to avoid any post editing techniques that take away from highlighting the item such as collages or heavy special effects.

Successful Transactions
If you accept an offer from a buyer, you must complete the sale. This means, once the buyer has hit the "Pay Now" button and successfully submitted their payment and shipping information, you are expected to send the item they purchased. We understand that honest mistakes happen, but cancelled transactions create confusion and disappointment for your buyers. We expect that our community members be respectful of each other and fulfil their transactions with each other.

Being an Exceptional Seller
When creating a listing, please inspect your items closely and be honest in describing your items. Be sure to disclose as much information as possible via the form fields. Take care to be thorough and accurate about details such as the condition, size, flaws, description and original price and include photos that demonstrate accurately the item's condition when necessary. This way, buyers know exactly what it is that they are getting and the risk of a dispute is decreased.

Shipping
As a seller, you must ship the purchased item to your buyer within five (5) days.
​
Being a Great Buyer
Great sellers always deserve quick payment. Therefore, as a buyer, you must confirm that you've received and reviewed your purchase within three to five (3-5) days after delivery. If you do not do so within the allotted time frame, the funds will be released to the seller and disputes hereafter will be deemed null and void.

Listing and Photo Permissions
Make sure that you have the rights to sell any items you list on the app. Do not list anything that does not belong to you, may violate any local laws, or of other people without their permission, or that you do not have the rights to use.

Safety and Privacy
Do not post anything on the platform that creates a privacy or security risk for anyone. This includes screenshots of private communications or personal information. Do not attempt to collect or give out personal information.

Brand Respect
The Casuarina Thrift & Consignment name and logos are trademarked and may only be used with prior written permission.

CASUARINA THRIFT IS NOT FOR
​
Illegal Items
Please DO NOT buy or sell any goods that are illegal. If you come across another seller listing items that are dangerous, illegal and against our policies send us an email and we will have them investigated.
​
Non-Fashion and Lifestyle Items
Please don't buy or sell any goods through our app other than those items mentioned in the "Fashion and Lifestyle" section above. These listings clutter the marketplace and make shopping more difficult and less enjoyable for others. If you'd like to sell items that aren't listed in our Guidelines, feel free to request to do so at help@casuarinathrift.com.

Counterfeits
The sale of counterfeits and unauthorized replicas of branded products is prohibited on Casuarina Thrift. If the product you are listing bears the brand or logo of a company or designer, but it was not made or authorized by that company or designer, this item is not permitted. Additionally, using a company's name or trademark in a way that may confuse buyers about the item's origins, or confuses buyers into believing that you or the item is affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the trademark owner is both illegal and a violation of our policies. Members who list replicas or fakes risk immediate and permanent suspension from Casuarina Thrift.

Used Underwear/Bikini Bottoms/Bodysuits
For health and hygiene reasons, used underwear/bikini bottoms and bodysuits cannot be sold on Casuarina Thrift unless they are brand new with tags/lining still attached.

Perfume or Nail Polish
Please ensure that you have all relevant information from your shipping services as it pertains to the shipment of flammable items such as nail polish and perfume before listing such items on our platform. This reduces the level of disappointment from both parties and keeps our platform trustworthy.

Taking Transactions or Conversations off the Casuarina Thrift Platform
Taking any part of a transaction, including discussion about details or negotiations, off of the Casuarina Thrift platform is a violation of our rules. This sort of activity hurts the Casuarina Thrift community by breaking down the sense of trust and integrity we have in the app. We cannot protect you, transactions or uphold agreements that are not made through our platform. We ask that you do not share your phone number, email address, or any other personal information, on our platform and keep all transactions on Casuarina Thrift.

Bullying and Harassment
Casuarina Thrift will not tolerate content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, excessively violent, defamatory, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, or racially/ethnically hateful on our platform. We kindly ask that you do not engage users who behave inappropriately but instead, send us an email about it right away and we would be happy to look further into the matter and take the appropriate actions.

Vulgarity and Obscenity
Keep it clean and do not post anything that is vulgar, pornographic in nature, or otherwise obscene.
​
Trading
Casuarina Thrift does not cover trades within the system.
​
Accidental Purchases
If you purchase an item on our app, you are obligated to complete the transaction. However, we understand accidents do happen. Buyers may cancel accidental purchases through our platform within three hours from the time of purchase. We recommend that all users log out of their account when they are not using the app to avoid accidental purchases which create confusion and disappointment for our sellers.

Automated Participation
Do not use programs or other forms of automation to participate on Casuarina Thrift. This includes, but is not limited to rating, reviewing and sharing.
​
Content Mining
Do not use Casuarina Thrift to collect personal data. You also may not use any images found on the app for your own purposes unless authorized by us. The exception to this is your own content.
​
Multiple Accounts
Unless you receive written permission from Casuarina Thrift, you are only permitted to have one account.
​
Penalties
We may send you an email or take permanent or temporary action on your account privileges if we find your account in violation of any of the aforementioned guidelines.
​

SELLER TIPS
1. Be thorough- Inspect clothes and items closely to be sure that you have not missed any major stains and/or rips. Also, be sure to clean/wash any clothes or items you may have used before listing.

2. Be transparent- Fill as many fields as possible as this creates trust between you and the buyer.
​
3. Take accurate photos- Take 1-3 good photos of the items that really reveal the true condition. To demonstrate the fit you can always show the piece on yourself, a mannequin or a model. Use a clean background as it prevents distraction from the item and provides the potential buyer with a clear image of the piece.
​
4. Ship orders in a timely manner- Try to ship your items as soon as possible. The quicker the Buyer receives your item the quicker you get paid!
​
5. Package items well- Treat your customer's items with care and package them using materials that are clean, in good condition and if possible, biodegradable. Don't be afraid to get creative with it. Adding elements of you makes the experience so much more enjoyable!
6. Price items honestly- Casuarina Thrift is not a business platform! Please do not intentionally overprice your items to make a big buck. Your prices should accurately reflect the condition of the item listed (please refer to the item conditions below).

BONUS TIPS
Write personalized notes- Handwritten notes create a connection/friendship with you and your customers. It brings emotion into the equation which in turn persuades Buyers to continue doing business with you.
