Welcome to Circular Living
Circular living is a continuous cycle which goes through stages and evolves on an ongoing basis in response to it's environment. In simple terms, it speaks to increasing the lifecycle of goods. Items are used and reused, until they cannot be used any longer. It looks to the sustainable and ever growing planet as inspiration.
This way of living feeds back into itself, and considers “waste” to be food or fuel for a self-sustaining way of being. In theory, it continues forever.
With thrifting, the longevity of clothing is extended as it sold, passed down or repurposed until it can no longer be used. This model disregards the "take-make-waste" model by keeping items out of landfills for longer periods of time, while slowing down the fast fashion industry: an industry dedicated to creating cheaply made products in massive quantities.
At Casuarina Thrift, our aim is to educate the Caribbean on the importance of thrifting, as it is one of the leading ways of preventing waste and plastic, from leaving landfills and reaching our oceans and beaches: our most prized tourism product. Currently our ocean is a victim of plastic in many different ways, from the depletion of the coral reef to the endangerment of our marine life. The rate of plastic pollution in the ocean, is growing at an alarming rate. Studies show that by 2050, we could have more plastic in the ocean than fish!
Be conscious, be intentional, #BeYou.
